Kitchen renovation North Shore.
When undertaking this gorgeous coastal-style kitchen renovation, our team moved the kitchen to the rear of the home, removing walls to open up the floor plan and installing new windows and sliding door so the space was flooded with natural light.
A fresh colour palette was used to achieve this bright, coastal-style kitchen in this Mosman cottage on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.
The floorplan of this solid, post-war California Bungalow wasn’t conducive to the lifestyle of a modern family. The kitchen was located at the front of the home and the bedrooms were at the rear, facing the backyard.
The owner wanted the kitchen relocated to the rear of the home so it looked out to the backyard, so they could watch the kids playing and take advantage of the Northerly aspect.
First, we removed the old bedroom walls to create a large, open plan kitchen and informal living area.
The original timber windows were replaced with large, fixed glass windows. Instantly light and sunshine flooded in from the perfect North aspect.
On the eastern side, we installed long windows just above the benchtop to let in light but maintain privacy from the neighbours. In time, the newly planted palms will cover the fence and provide a lush, tropical outlook.
We removed the old backdoor and replaced it with a large, sliding door that flowed seamlessly onto the sunny entertaining terrace.
Clean lines and minimalist design were used to create a blank canvas for the addition of contrasting lighting, stools and accessories.
Caesarstone Attera Blanca was used on benchtops and island. We curved the edges of the island benchtop to soften the space.
Oak Hybrid timber flooring added warmth and was complimented by the Tasmania Oak decorative paneling on the island bench.
A cute, custom-made bench seat was integrated into the corner, creating a gorgeous place to relax in the sunshine.
The finished result was spectacular and could easily be adapted to suit the floorplan of any house, apartment or townhouse. Once the landscaping and pool are finished, the outlook from the kitchen and informal living will complete this coastal kitchen renovation.
